<p>With Jimmy Barnes currently recovering from <a href="https://www.oversixty.co.nz/health/caring/the-dose-of-magic-helping-jimmy-barnes-recover-after-surgery" target="_blank" rel="noopener">open heart surgery</a>, there was no way he could perform at the Red Hot Summer Tour, but his family and friends have come together to put on a show in honour of the star. </p> <p>The<em> Barnes All-Stars</em>, formed by none other than Jimmy's own daughter Mahalia, includes stars like Jon Stevens, Chris Cheney, and his legendary <em>Cold Chisel</em> bandmate, Ian Moss.</p> <p>The band have been headlining for the first three shows of the tour, and performed classic songs by <em>Cold Chisel</em> and Jimmy Barnes, which were compiled by the rock star himself.</p> <p>While the band put on a stellar show, Jimmy's granddaughter, Ruby Rogers' performance of the the Chisel classic <em>Flame Trees, </em>stole the hearts of fans. </p> <p>"In case you didn’t get to see this fantastic performance, this is granddaughter Ruby filling in for me on the weekend," Jimmy tweeted, gushing over her performance. </p> <p>"I love her so much. "Who picks a fight with a rock star?" Jimmy Barnes confronts on-road "bully"

<p>Jimmy Barnes' wife Jane has ripped into a truck driver who "bullied" the couple on the road, with the driver attempting to "fight Jimmy on the roadside". </p> <p>Jane Barnes said the incident occurred on Wednesday night in the south Sydney suburb of Botany Bay, when the couple had been driving home from a charity event. </p> <p>In a furious thread on Twitter, Jane detailed the terrifying incident which resulted in the police being called. </p> <p>Jane wrote, "(He) cut us off across our lane and swiped our mirror, wanted to fight Jimmy on the roadside."</p> <p>"Trucks are like weapons, bullies behind the wheel a danger to us all," she wrote, alongside the hashtags #TOLL and #NOtobullies. </p> <p>Jane then shared a photo of the truck drivers' side profile as he almost came to blows with the rockstar, as well as photos of the truck's license plate and the Barnes' car which shows the drivers' side wing mirror bent out of place. </p> <p>Jane went on to say the truckie had shared his details with the couple and that NSW Police had been called over the altercation. </p> <p>However, she said, officers "couldn't do much" if there were no injuries or damages.</p> <p>Jane's post drew in a wave of attention, with one fan asking, "Who picks a fight with a rock star?"</p> <p>Ms Barnes replied, "Shouldn't matter who it is. This guy was just a pig. Swearing, smug, ignorant, misogynist bully."</p> <p>The musician continued her rant on Instagram, writing, "When you drive a truck you're in charge of a weapon. <p>Jimmy Barnes was left mortified after he awkwardly confused a blowtorch for a microphone and attempted to sing into it.</p> <p>The legendary hitmaker, 66, shared a hilarious photo of the mishap to Facebook, which captured him screaming into the device while waving at the camera.</p> <p>Thankfully for Barnes, the blowtorch was turned off, so he was not injured by the blunder.</p> <p>“PLEASE DO NOT try this at home, or anywhere. "It's been a tough year": Jimmy Barnes reveals very different Christmas plans

<p>Jimmy Barnes has shared how he and his family will be spending Christmas after a tumultuous year of family losses. </p> <p>Talking to <a href="https://www.nowtolove.com.au/parenting/celebrity-families/jimmy-barnes-grandchildren-75773" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Australian Women's Weekly</a>, the legendary singer shared how this festive season will be a poignant one for the Barnes family. </p> <p>"It's been a tough year," Jimmy said simply.</p> <p>The Barneses have lost many of their closest friends and family over the last few months, including Jimmy's great mates from the music business, Mushroom Records founder Michael Gudinski, Warren Costello (Mushroom executive and true friend with whom Jimmy worked closely, daily for decades) and Pierre Baroni (friend, photographer and creative co-conspirator).</p> <p>Then they lost Jimmy's sister, Linda, and Jane's mother, Kusumphorn Visuthipol.</p> <p>"It all started with Michael," he explains. "When Michael left, it was such a shock. Since then, we've lost about seven people who were really close to us, who we weren't expecting to lose, including Warren, one of the nicest people in the world, and Pierre, who was like part of our family."</p> <p>"We were just so close. Warren and Linda and Jane's mum died within two weeks of each other. It was just horrendous. It sort of took the wind out of my sails." </p> <p>As a result of the devastating losses, Jimmy said their family Christmas will look very different this year. </p> <p>In years prior, the Barnes family would host extravagant celebrations where everyone was welcome, and would party into the night. </p> <p>This year however, they are planning something much more low-key. </p> <p>"Jane and I are going away for Christmas, by ourselves. It's because we lost Jane's mum and I think the idea of her not being here for Christmas is very difficult for us to deal with. So, we're going to Thailand to visit the temple where we left her ashes, but also to get a bit of air. Our kids are big now. They're doing their own Christmases. Jimmy Barnes to undergo urgent surgery

<p dir="ltr">Jimmy Barnes has been forced to cancel his upcoming tour to undergo urgent surgery.</p> <p dir="ltr">The 66-year-old said the five decades rocking on stage and being bent at the waist will see him under hip and back surgery.</p> <p dir="ltr">His final performance will be held the first weekend of December at Valo Adelaide 500 before he goes in for surgery.</p> <p dir="ltr">“I’ve been jumping off PAs and stomping around stages for nearly 50 years, but it’s finally caught up with me,” Barnes said in a statement.</p> <p dir="ltr">“I’ve had niggling back and hip issues for years, but things suddenly got a lot worse over the last few weeks and I’m now in constant and severe pain.</p> <p dir="ltr">“As everybody knows, it’s against my religion to blow out gigs but the doctors tell me I need an operation as soon as possible and it will really limit my movement for a few months.</p> <blockquote class="instagram-media" style="background: #FFF; "I can't stop smiling": Jimmy Barnes overwhelmed by honour

<p dir="ltr">Jimmy Barnes has received an Honorary Doctorate for his distinguished service to the community. </p> <p dir="ltr">The legendary rock singer, who left school at 16 to join Cold Chisel as lead singer, was humbled when he accepted the award from the University of South Australia. </p> <p dir="ltr">The 66-year-old shared heartwarming photos to his Instagram with his family, and included a short snippet of his acceptance speech. </p> <p dir="ltr">“I am both humbled and proud to be receiving an Honorary Doctorate awarded to me by the @universitysa,” his caption read.</p> <p dir="ltr">“What an Honour. The magnitude of this occasion has only just sunk in. Emotional Jimmy Barnes opens up about his "week from hell"

<p>Jimmy Barnes has opened up in a candid interview about his "week from hell", as he was rocked with three deaths after recovering from Covid-19 and cancelling his tour. </p> <p>Speaking with Nat Barr and Matt Shirvington on <em><a href="https://7news.com.au/sunrise/entertainment/jimmy-barnes-opens-up-after-being-rocked-by-three-deaths-in-a-fortnight-c-7036564" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sunrise</a></em>, the music legend said it hasn't been an easy time for his family. </p> <p>“It’s been a tough couple of weeks,” he said on Friday.</p> <p>“We lost three people who were really dear to us in a matter of a week.”</p> <p>Jimmy discussed the devastating losses, saying it began when <a href="https://oversixty.com.au/health/caring/jimmy-barnes-reveals-family-tragedy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">his sister Linda passed away</a>, just days before <a href="https://oversixty.com.au/news/news/jimmy-barnes-devastating-loss" target="_blank" rel="noopener">his mother-in-law also tragically died</a>. </p> <p>Barnes said he and his family had gathered around his wife Jane’s mum and played music in her final days.</p> <p>“Jane’s mother was one of the people who passed away and literally on the day before she died we started singing in her room,” he explained.</p> <p>“It was like a rockfest, no wonder she wanted to escape,” he laughed.</p> <p>The music icon said singing his mother-in-law’s “favourite, beautiful songs as she left” was “the best gift” he could give her.</p> <div> <p>“The music helped us not only say goodbye but also to deal with those feelings, so it was very emotional.”</p> <p>Jimmy was also grieving the loss of a "dear friend" who worked in the music industry. </p> <p>He said, “In a week when you think that nothing else could break your heart, we lost our dear friend Warren Costello,” he wrote on social media at the time. </p> <p>Barnes was hit with the tragedies just weeks after recovering from a stint with Covid-19 in May, which forced the 66-year-old to cancel shows on his sold-out tour. </p> <p>“I thought I might be one of those people who was not going to get Covid ever. I was doing everything with the strict protocols on tour,” he explained.</p> <p>“Lo and behold, I got it while visiting my grandchild in New Zealand. I guess it had to happen sooner or later.”</p> <p>Despite the recent difficult weeks, Jimmy said he still relies on the power of music to bring him through the darkest days. </p> <p>He said, "I think music is not only something that brings you together, it is really great for the spirit."</p> <p><em>Image credits: Sunrise footage </em></p> </div>

<p dir="ltr">Jimmy Barnes has announced that his wife’s mother Kusumphorn Visuthipol has passed away over the weekend. </p> <p dir="ltr">The Aussie singer shared the devastating news on Twitter just days after saying his shows would be cancelled due to "a very grave illness" and that “family really must come first”. </p> <p dir="ltr">“Our families' lives were all made richer because of this beautiful woman. @jane13barnes’ mum Kusumphorn lived an incredible life and I was lucky enough to be a part of it. You will be missed every single day.
